Above two photos from makesomething.ca
I came across this beautiful cake yesterday (see above) visiting Make Something. Karyn was writing about a birthday party she had attended over the weekend for Erica and hosted by the talented couple, Anabela and Geoff of Fieldguided. And this cake just had me in awe! It happens to be made by another very talented person, Nikole Herriott of Heriott Grace and Forty-sixth at Grace. I'm sure many of you have seen her cakes in the past on her blog or flickr photostream, but if you haven't I was thrilled when Nikole agreed to let me showcase them here.
Beautiful cakes, beautiful pictures, and the beautiful wooden cake pedestals and cheeseboards her father has made that holds some of them. All photo's below by Nikole Herriott.

This 'cake-art' look very very yummy !
the high cakes are so chic! (and still look so delicious)
jan what could be better than beautiful cakes . these are!
lovely series
Gorgeous AND delicious!
I'm drooling at 6:00 a.m. That can't be good ;)
Thank you so much for this post, Jan! I can't even believe Nikole's talent. To think, this immense ability with pastry is only one of the many things she can do so well! And, sorry to rub it in, the cake was delicious!! Although it was almost sad to cut into it!
thanks for posting my photos of nikole's incredible cake. it was just as delicious as it looks and i will probably have lovely dreams about it for a very long time.
I am usually suspicious about the taste of pretty cakes, but these ones truly look incredibly scrumptious! and oh, so beautiful!
aw, i'm not a cake person but i could be when they're this pretty! xo
wow- beautiful cakes and the wooden cake stands and cheese platters are beautiful! Thanks for introducing us all!
What a great post!
I love these(so does Doug!)
They are so understated - incl. the stands. This is such a contrast to the madly ornate cakes I keep seeing all over the web these days.
Its interesting to see how your readers have responded to such simple elegance!
These cakes (and cake stands) are simply stunning! Great post.
So Beautiful!! I just ordered a mortar and pestle from her and can't wait to receive it...love her stuff!
Those look so good and how beautiful!
Thanks for posting Karyn's lovely photos of Nikole's cakes. I still cannot believe it was made for me. I am a very lucky girl. Good thing I got to share it with a bunch of lovely ladies and (three!)fellas!
wow! i love her work, it's super gorgeous, simple, modern and artful... and i love the natural-feel of the photo styling... that wintry pine needly table with the four cakes is sooo beautiful... !!
thanks for sharing!!
xo
Ohhhh... so gorgeous and so timely! I am planning my bday feast... how well do you think these ship? LOL... I may just have to settle with some pretty flags and streamers stuck in the top, but tiny little pieces of gold never hurt anyone did they? YUM! Lovely lovely photos. Well posted :)
I just recently discovered Nicole's Flickr photostream...everything about her cakes and the other images of craft and home that she shares through Flickr, her blog and her shop are just so lovely and REAL. I'm a new, happy fan!
Those are some dang cute cakes.
Such beautiful cakes. I love the picture with the red tablecloth; it has such a mystical, fantastical feel about it, like you're waiting for foxes and other woodland creatures to come to the feast. I really wish I had some cake:)
I have always thought of fancy cakes as works of art, and this post just confirms it. Gorgeous.
These are so ridiculous. I adore them and the way they're photographed is just perfect. A+.
what gorgeous cakes! i wish i could make some like that!
hi everyone! thanks so much jan for posting my little cakes and thank you to everyone for such kind comments.
