There's No Place Like Here: Luxton Lake

Love this video (produced by Tara) from Etsy's "There's No Place Like Here" series where they feature a retro renovation at Luxton Lake in upstate New York of the cosy cottage of Luxton Lake etsy shop owner, Tina Spangler. Spangler uprooted herself from her New York City lifestyle and moved into a forgotten community of Narrowsburg, NY, called Luxton Lake. Once a vacation destination for African-Americian New Yorkers, the area was mostly abandoned in the 70's when a dam was removed and the lake drained. Tina purchased a 1950's fixer-upper and took the leap to fix it up. The result is adorable featuring an awesome retro interior. Click here to see the rest of the article.

ADORABLE! My kind of decorating, not perfect. My house is full of things that with cracks, breaks and chips - just the way I love it. She has done a great job with hey own style here.

Loved this! Have you watched the documentary about Luxton aka "Lucky" Lake that Tina made (on youtube?). It's sad, yet gives me hope that Tina, the few remaining members of the community, and others can try to bring back the little community of cottages, despite the lake being gone.
