the art of the display: sleepy silhouette

blackapple
Found this cozy room last night from Inside a Black Apple (via indierocket's flickr) and found it so inviting. Don't you just want to lie down there and have a goldilock nap? I like how she took the silhouettes around the corner. Great placement. The pillow is from commondecency.etsy.com. And of course you can buy lots of amazing prints and things from Emily's (the bedroom's owner) etsy shop by visiting The Black Apple.

I could sleep the day away in that room, except for those momenets when I wouldn't be able to take my eyes off the walls... so lovely!

Beautiful! Love the colour of the walls too - the whole room looks so serene and whimsical!

It's sort of like a thought bubble you know? Like you lay down and the thoughts of all those people pop out of your head in dreams. I love it!

OK, I must admit that I am a bit conflicted about this display.

With regard to the actual display and the composition of images, I think it's sweetly beautiful, and I completely agree with Donkey (?! love your name) about the thought bubble! That's exactly what I thought, particularly because of the around-the-corner frames that descend toward the pillow.

But with regard to content... am I the only one who finds all those silhouettes a little on the creepy side?? They're a bit fantom-like to me... all of these dark, references to a potential being...but we only can glimpse the profile, not the actual details or the interior. Also, do you think these silhouettes are representative of the members of this person's family, or do you think they're just random silhouettes? Because that freaks me out too. I wouldn't want strangers surrounding me while I sleep. They would ultimately people my nightmares, if that were the case... which goes back to the thought/dream bubble...

OK, I'll stop. But am I alone in this?!

These are adorable! I think I have one of myself somewhere from a trip to Disney as a child. I may have to take a trip out to my mom's to start digging!
Great idea!

This is perfect inspiration. I have a ton of silhouettes that I am not sure what to do with. Thank you!
