haldane martin
i love this link i found via great green gods, (one of the blogs that were listed in the giveaway yesterday). its the zulu mama cafe chair by haldane martin, "an exploration of an indigenous zulu basket weaving technique adapted for recycled plastic. the baskets express the archetypal feminine activity of gathering, an appropriate gesture for cafe seating. the weaving work contributes to the economic empowerment of rural women". i also like their riempie series inspired by early cape dutch furniture (below).

i love the contrast in the old wood chair
These chairs are really beautiful: the bottom one for its design aesthetic, and the top, both for its design and the wonderful things that it represents socially and environmentally. Great post.
