reading one of my favorite blogs this morning, sfgirlbybay, (who's been so busy redecorating fabulously btw), just posted about her artwork and the artists, i noticed the placement of of it all. using different colored ribba frames from ikea victoria's arrangement really works so well above her sofa. not hung too high and scattered together like a puzzle.

i also love the placement of these pieces by lisa congdon (above) at the candy store (i think i took a virtual trip to san francisco last night by the looks of some of my posts lately). it came to mind when i saw domino magazine's slideshow on picture framing tips (image below). i like allegra hick's advice to use different frames to avoid the gallery look.

I oohed over SF's pic this morning too! I hadn't seen Lisa's though. SO pretty! Thanks for posting it!
I'm always fascinated by the way other people hang art on their walls; thanks for sharing these pictures! I'm a big fan of Matte Art so it was wonderful to see his work.
placement IS everything - wonderful post!
I was inspired by sfgirlbybay's frame arrangement too - thanks for sharing more examples!
Love all of these ideas. We just moved so I'm thinking about how I want to arrange my prints and photos... this is definitely inspiration.
This was perfect timing. I bought a new couch and am now sold on arranging all my frames behind it, salon style.
beautiful photos. thanks for sharing!
I love hanging art in a jumble- and it's always nice to see other people do the same!
I am clicking over to SF now. These images are wonderful. Arrangment like this is an art. I have tried to master it several times around my own house. Still haven't gotten to this level yest.
I can't wait to build up my collection of art and frame them in a collection like that. Adore how sfgirlbybay arranged her collection, the use of lighter coloured frames is stunning!
